Add whole green lentils to your dinner! Simply boil till soft (can be done in rice cooker along with wild rice and your bean of choice), add garlic, onion, curry powder, cumin, spinach, asafoetida, and allow the aromas of the cooked lentils greet your nostrils!

Lentils are mineral rich, low in fat, rich in vitamins, and contain abundant fiber. Plus they taste delicious!

Consider non-pharmacologic treatments for common conditions. Do you have poor vein circulation in your legs? varicose veins? swollen superficial leg veins causing scarring and darkening of your skin? Consider horse-chestnut seed extract.
“The use of HCSE is associated with a decrease of the lower-leg volume and a reduction in leg circumference at the calf and ankle. Symptoms such as leg pain, pruritus, and a feeling of fatigue and tenseness are reduced.”
This means that horse chestnut seed can help with swelling, itching, fatigue, tightness, and thickness of your legs because of poor vein circulation.

Know your anatomy! Ask your doctor questions about the status of all your organs. Is your heart enlarged? If so, why? Chronic high blood pressure can lead to enlargement of the heart, which can lead to arrhythmias such as Atrial Fibrillation. People with enlarged structurally damaged hearts may need aspirin, and people with atrial fibrillation often need to be on blood thinners (anticoagulation). A simple physical exam, EKG, and chest xray should suffice to assess heart size.

What about kidneys? Ask your doctor the status of your kidneys! Routine blood tests (complete or basic metabolic panel) reveals “Creatinine” which is a clumsy but useful assessment of kidney function. If your kidneys aren’t filtering well, then you need to avoid certain medications such as NSAIDS (motrin, ibuprofen, naprosyn, etc). If your kidney leaks protein (can be determined by a simple urinalysis), then you need to be tested for elevated cholesterol, elevated inflammation, and for high blood pressure. If your kidneys leak protein, then you need to be on an ACEI (ACE inhibitor, or angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor), which protects the kidneys and improves blood flow at the microscopic level.

If you are diabetic, overweight, an alcoholic, or if you have hepatitis C or B, know the status of your liver! Comprehensive Metabolic Panel is a simple blood test that assesses your liver function. In addition to detoxifying material that you’ve eaten, the liver also detoxifies medicine, supplements, drugs, and synthesizes clotting proteins and structural proteins very important for the body. A simple albumin level and a PT/INR (prothrombin time) can assess your liver’s capacity to synthesize essential proteins. Contact us for a straightforward liver detox program!

If you have asthma or COPD or emphysema, and require the use of inhalers daily or frequently, then you may have significant structurallung disease, putting you at risk for pneumonia and heart problems. Know the status of your lungs! A routine chest xray after a physical exam should reveal this information.

Wellness is a trillion dollar industry these days, one of the few American industries not seeing a recession. Furthermore it is an unregulated industry, leading to countless products flooding the market. We at ALWAYSPEACEOFMIND.COM have done twelve years of research into the nutriceutical industry, and have discovered the absolute highest quality nutriceutical medicines on the market. Our patients experience the benefits of the medicines, and do not experience side effects. One of the major advantages of nutriceuticals compared to pharmaceuticals are the distinct safety profile of the former. However there are plenty of nutriceuticals on the market which quite simply should not be taken. For example CENTRUM SILVER contains aluminum and talc, both extremely toxic compounds. Centrum should never be taken under any circumstances.

The laboratories and companies we contract with to make our Nutrametrix medicines and supplements have articulated specifications for the products, with scientific analyses of all raw materials used in the manufacturing process. There are documented “Certificates of Analyses” which are available for public inspection as well. After manufacture, products are inspected at the warehouses for damage, label accuracy, appearance, taste, and odor. If some criteria is not satisfied, the product is quarantined. Then the isotonic medicines undergo scientific assay in independent labs for isotonicity, contamination, and potency. All of our Nutrametrix manufacturing facilities are audited regularly for GMP compliance. GMP means “good manufacturing practice regulations” established by the FDA.

Check out any of the Isotonic products in our nutriceutical pharmacy at: There is a tab you can click on for “science” which lists scientific articles corroborating the efficacy and benefit of the medicines.

Frequent causes of chronic cough include post-nasal drip and esophageal reflux (GERD). Frequently a nidus of mucus or phlegm builds up in the back of the nose (nasopharynx) and drops on the throat, irritating it and causing cough. Why does such mucus build up? The most common cause of sinus congestion / mucus buildup is the food you eat. Foods rich in preservatives, dairy, and processed chemicals trigger an immune response in the throat, leading to the buildup of mucus in certain areas. Stick to eating vegetables and lentils (see FOOD section) prepared deliciously and soon you’ll see the mucus disappear. Also consider using a nasal rinse or neti pot to wash out the mucus sitting in your nasopharynx.

Also esophageal reflux (heartburn) can cause chronic cough. Acid travels back up the food pipe (esophagus) while you sleep and irritates the throat. If you notice worse cough in the morning and have heartburn, this may be the cause. The best treatment for reflux is addressing stress and eating a plant-based diet.

Integrating daily lifestyle methods into treatment programs for chronic illness is absolutely essential. Food, breathing, and activities (such as exercise, yoga, and performing compassionate acts) that are proven to oppose inflammation in the body are all examples of lifestyle methods that benefit people with chronic illness or poor quality of life. I myself have used these methods to heal myself and improve my own life…
